A. Pepper’s Commitment to Your Privacy

This policy (Privacy Policy) describes the ways in which we collect information from you when you use the Website, and what we may use it for. By using or accessing the Website in any manner, you acknowledge that you accept the practices and policies outlined in this Privacy Policy, and you hereby consent to our collection, use, and sharing of your information in the following ways. If you do not consent, you may not use the Website. 

Pepper reserves the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time and in our sole discretion. If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will provide notice by emailing you, or making a notification on the Website, or updating the “Last Updated” date at the beginning of this Privacy Policy.

B. What Data Do We Collect from You?

We collect data from you (“User Data”) in various ways:

  • when you create an account on the Website, we collect account information such as your name, email address, password, postal address, phone number, subscription preferences, and any other information you choose to provide. 
  • when you create an account on the Website, we may collect transaction information such as collecting and storing limited payment information from you, such as payment card type and expiration date and last four digits of your payment card number, however, we do not collect or store full payment card numbers and all payments are handled by our third party payment processor. 
  • when you fill out other optional forms such as surveys or interactive areas of the Website.
  • by our use of “Cookies” (see section C below); and
  • when we request further information from you from time to time following on from registration.

C. Use of “Cookies”

Cookies are small data files stored on your hard drive or in device memory that help us improve the Website and your experience, see which components and features of the Website are popular, and count visits.

Information generated by the use of Cookies is only disclosed to third parties in aggregate form so that no individual can be identified (see also D (iii) below).

D. Our use of User Data

We will use User Data we collect from you only in accordance with the following guidelines:

(i)To Manage Your Account and Send You Information About Your Account
 
This includes confirmations such as a payment confirmation or account creation confirmation, updates, security alerts and support and administrative messages.
(ii)To Send You Information About Pepper
 
From time to time, we, or third parties acting on our behalf, may wish to send you information about Pepper which we believe you may be interested in and we may use User Data for this purpose. If you decide now, or at any later time, that you do not wish to receive this information, please e-mail us at admin@joinpepper.org
(iii)To Provide the Website to You
 
We will use User Data to provide and improve the Website (one example being the use of Google Analytics to see how you interact with the website so that we can make improvements), to enable us to deal with any queries you have about the Website or Pepper and to notify you of any changes to the Website.
(iv)To Include User Data in Anonymous Statistics
 
We may provide anonymous statistics about our users to reputable third parties, but these statistics will not enable any third party to identify individuals or individual organizations.
(v)Sharing with Pepper Affiliates and Partners
We do not share your data with anyone else, except in the special circumstance below, and even in that circumstance it is with your express permission at the time of making a donation.
Where one of our partner charities listed on the Website asks if they can provide you with details on how, where, and/or when your donation was used. In this scenario, we will provide a clear opt-in/opt-out option for you to select. And by opting out your contact details won’t be shared. Examples of this include Against Malaria Foundation, which may request to show you where the nets your donation bought were distributed, when they were delivered, and how many people they helped protect. Again, this is entirely an optional choice for you to either opt-in or opt-out of at time of making the donation. 

E. Legal Requirements

You consent to the disclosure by us of confidential and/or personal data which is provided by you (i) to any governmental agency, court, regulator or law enforcement authority, on request; (ii) to our professional advisors and auditors, as reasonably required; (ii) to affiliates and other third parties providing services to, or acting for and on behalf of, Pepper, if reasonably required to comply with any law to which either we or they are subject. This may include providing your data to certain third parties for the purpose of carrying out anti-money laundering or similar investigations.

F. We do not sell or exploit User Data commercially through third parties

Pepper will not sell, rent, distribute or otherwise make User Data commercially available to any third party, except as described above, or except with your prior permission.

G. Security

Pepper takes reasonable measures to ensure the privacy and security of your personal information. Your account is password protected. You must sign-off after you have finished accessing your account and keep your account credentials protected to prevent unauthorized access to your personal information. Pepper cannot guarantee your information will be private and secure on our database, nor can we guarantee that that your info won’t be intercepted during transmission over the internet. 

H. Your Options to Manage Your Privacy  

We need some information to provide you the Website and the Services, but you can always opt not to disclose information to us, just note it may negate our ability to provide you with some features of the Website and its Services.

You may modify your account information at any time by logging into your online account or by emailing us at support@joinpepper.org. If you have any questions about viewing or updating information we have on file about you, please email us at support@joinpepper.org

(ii) Account Deactivation

If you want to deactivate your account, please email us at support@joinpepper.org, but note we may continue to store information about you as required or permitted by law or for legitimate business purposes. We may use any aggregated data collected from or incorporating your personal information after you update or delete it. Note, deactivating your account is not the same as canceling your donation. You can cancel your donation by logging into your account and completing the cancellation process or emailing support@joinpepper.org

We maintain your donation information for our records unless or until you ask us to delete this information. Additionally, please note that your information will be transferred outside of Europe, including to the United States.
