“It’s You I Like”

My wife Molly and I attended my buddy Ian’s wedding earlier this month. His uncle officiated and read the lyrics to “It’s You I Like”, a song by Mr. Rogers. While my left hand pressed into Molly’s right, I started to think about the things I buy. I spent twenty minutes looking at Stan Musial baseball cards on eBay just this morning. And that’s ok! It was fun, and I love Stan The Man. And maybe one day, I’ll spend $300 on his 1949 Bowman rookie card. Also ok.

We buy things to make us happier. God knows I don’t need another T-shirt, I have at least 20, but I’m sure I’ll buy one soon because wearing it will bring me a little happiness. My friends and family don’t love me because of my T-shirts, car, or house. They love me because I’m me.

In a world where we are each enough just the way we are and have almost everything we need, it can feel great to help people without life’s necessities like food, medicine, education, and shelter.

Pepper is a way to make a big difference each month without sacrificing the things you love. I hope you’ll consider joining!

It’s You I Like Lyrics

It’s you I like,

It’s not the things you wear,

It’s not the way you do your hair

But it’s you I like

The way you are right now,

The way down deep inside you

Not the things that hide you,

Not your toys

They’re just beside you.

But it’s you I like

Every part of you.

Your skin, your eyes, your feelings

Whether old or new

I hope that you’ll remember

Even when you’re feeling blue

That it’s you I like,

It’s you yourself

It’s you.

It’s you I like.

Much love,

Mike – Founder/President, Pepper
