What is Pepper?
Pepper is a power-in-numbers approach to giving where a little can do a lot. Our members change the world, $10 at a time.
Giving should be easy and impactful. It wasn’t. So we created Pepper. Donors have one option: give $10/month. 100% of donations (less standard credit card fees) are split evenly between our four partner charities. Each charity has been awarded a top ranking from leading charity evaluator GiveWell.org, a nonprofit that specializes in finding donors the best giving opportunities in the world.
Pepper doesn’t take a fee. We started Pepper with the sole purpose of making giving easy and impactful, not to make money. Pepper is a registered nonprofit 501c3 organization.
When you give with Pepper, you give to evidence-based charities working in low-income countries. Why? Because your dollar can go significantly further when it’s helping people living in extreme poverty (less than $2.15/day). Over 8% of the global population lives in extreme poverty; that’s 680 million people who could use our help. Over 600,000 people died last year from malaria, a preventable and treatable disease. Over 250,000 kids went blind from a lack of vitamin A, a consequence of malnutrition that we can avert for $2/year with vitamin A supplements.
What Makes Pepper Unique?
#1) IT’S EASY – You can join in 30 seconds and know you’re making a monthly impact. You don’t need to decide where, how much, or how often to give. There’s just one option: give $10/month.
#2) IT’S IMPACTFUL – In just one year of giving $10/month, you can protect 15 people from malaria, 14 kids from going blind, and provide a person living in extreme poverty with ~3 weeks’ worth of income. This impact is thanks to the work of our four partner charities – Against Malaria Foundation, Malaria Consortium, Helen Keller International, and GiveDirectly.
#3) IT FEELS GOOD! – You are celebrated for your generosity rather than guilted into giving more. We will never ask you for more money.
Rather than focus on the top 1%, we created Pepper for the 99%, the everyday person who doesn’t have a million dollars to give but wants to make a difference. We believe that $1,000,000 from 10,000 people says much more than $1,000,000 given by one.
A year from now Pepper may look very different, but our commitment to making giving easy and impactful for everyday people will remain the same.
